Synastry Love Compatibility: Best and Worst aspects

Do you want to know how astrologically compatible you are with a person for a
romantic relationship?

A synastry chart can show you that: it compares the two birth charts of the partners and analyzes the aspects that are formed between the planets. It also shows the houses in which the planets of one partner fall in the chart of the other. We therefore speak of comparative astrology.

You can calculate a synastry chart here: https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/synastry-chart-online-calculator

Now let's analyze the chart.

🔺What are the best aspects for love compatibility? If you have some of these, that's a very good sign:

Planets in 7th house / Conjunctions to Descendant: The 7th house and the Descendant describe the quality of our ideal partner. Thus, having planets in someone's seventh house in synastry is indicative of mutual attraction. The planet person represents the qualities that we lack, the qualities that will be needed to "balance" the relationship and create a strong bond. The planet person is likely to find the house person very attractive.

Planetary Overlays in 5th House: The 5th house represents fun and romance. So, if your planets are in your partner's 5th house, there is a lot of romance and physical attraction. Spending time together is very enjoyable. This is especially true if the planet is Venus or Mars.

Planets in House 8: The 8th house represents sex and intimacy. This is therefore a powerful synastric superposition. In this case, the planet person stimulates the desire of the house person. The eighth house person wants to "merge" with the planet person and  to go deep into his or her sexuality. This aspect is especially strong if your partner's Venus or Mars (sexual planets) fall into your 8th house. The bond is practically irresistible.

Sun-Venus: Venus is the planet of beauty and pleasure, while the Sun represents our self-being. Therefore, the synastric aspects involving the Sun and Venus indicate a strong physical attraction, especially on the part of the Venus person. The Sun person represents what the Venus person finds beautiful and pleasant, and the Sun person gets a huge boost from this aspect. The Venus person loves the Sun person and the Sun person loves the style and grace of the Venus person. This is a very romantic aspect, and it is one of the best indicators of a long-lasting romantic relationship.

Sun-Mars: When they make an appearance in synastry, it is an index of sexual compatibility. Mars is sexually attracted to the Sun person, and the sexual desires of the Sun person are stimulated by the Mars person. This aspect represents a notable physical attraction. This is especially true if there is a conjunction, trine or sextile between these planets. The opposition, on the other hand, can cause to conflicts between the two people.

Moon-Mars: This is a sign of true sexual compatibility. The attraction is instinctive and natural. The Mars person can instinctively perceive the needs of the Moon person and can strive to meet them. The Mars person is attracted to the Moon person. The Moon person is "turned on" by the progress of the Mars person. The attraction is very "primitive". Together, they blend emotionality and feelings in sex, which turns out to be very satisfying for both parties. However, the less positive aspects can manifest themselves outside the bedroom, such as emotional arguments and hurt feelings, while the positive aspects indicate supportive energies between the two.

Venus-Mars: Venus is the planet of love, affection and romance, while Mars is the planet of raw sexual energy. Together, they make fireworks! The Mars person feels adored and loved by the Venus person. The Venus person is sexually stimulated by the Mars person. When this aspect is present in synastry, it indicates true sexual compatibility.

Ascendant / Descendant and Ascendant / Ascendant Aspects: This aspect often receives little attention. The Ascendant represents our physical appearance and how we project ourselves to the world. Therefore, the aspects (even the difficult ones) between the ascendants of two people indicate considerable attraction. The Asc / Disc aspect also indicates attraction between the two partners, when they are opposite it indicates that the Asc partner experiences the Disc partner as his ideal partner.

🔻There can also be some red flags aspects in a synastry chart. Please note that no one aspect can make or break a relationship, or define the complete potential of a person. These are the worst aspects in a synastry chart, but they can only show some problematics and the focus should be awareness:

☆ Partner’s Neptune Square/ Opposite Your Sun: You do not see your partner clearly with their Neptune in challenging aspect to your Sun.  This can be self-delusion or fantasy in you or your partner.  Your partner may be intentionally trying to deceive you, pretend to be someone they are not in order to appeal to you, or generally have an escapist personality that is hard to pin down.  Before making a strong commitment, do your research – know their friends, family and even previous relationship partners to get a better idea of who they really are.

☆ Partner’s Neptune Square/ Opposite Your Mercury: Similar to Neptune/Sun there will be a strong sense of not understanding your partner in this relationship. It will be a heady mix of hearing what you want to hear, being lied to, lying to your partner, and a sense of all out confusion as to what the meaning is behind anything that is said.  Unless there are more solid outlets between your two Mercuries, you can very easily end up deceived and disillusioned as the relationship progresses. Fact check, don’t accept ambiguities, and don’t expect your normal logic and intuitive faculties to be enough to penetrate the Neptunian fog here.

☆ Partner’s Pluto Opposite Your Venus: The most consistent outcome with this aspect is financial abuse.  The Pluto person will feel an overwhelming need to control the personal resources of the Venus person, which is often money, but can also be their talents, physical body, or who they can and cannot socialize with – anything Venusian in their partner.  This, as with all Pluto contacts, can feel very “protective” and like love in the beginning, but as it plays out in the relationship there will be extreme difficulty placed on the Venus person when they attempt to extract themselves from the control of the Pluto person.

☆ Partner’s Pluto Conjunct/ Square Your Ascendant: Your partner will consciously, or unconsciously, attempt to control and influence you with this aspect. If you are a submissive person or insecure or vulnerable, this can create the potential for exploitation of your person/body.  You need to have a strong sense of self and personal power to prevent the Pluto person’s intensity from overwhelming and consuming you.  This contact can be highly seductive, and it will largely depend on how healthy the Pluto person is and how they use their power to determine the outcome of this contact.

☆ Partner’s Pluto Conjunct/Square/Opposite Your Mars: This will be difficult to escape if there is any small amount of attraction between you and your partner.  This is a classic aspect of overwhelming sexual passion between two people, which can be very enticing in the beginning of a relationship.  The root of this passion is the push-pull of control and power between two individuals, which can be very satisfying when worked out sexually, but in a long-term commitment can spill over into everyday life in intense and extreme behavior toward one’s partner.  It is typically the Pluto person who wants to exert control or use force against the Mars individual, and this can lead to a battle of wills.  This aspect is highly volatile, and can be a catalyst for abuse and violence in a relationship.  This can catch each of you by surprise, especially if you’ve never experienced this contact in other relationships and are not highly Plutonic as individuals.

☆ Partner’s Uranus Conjunct/ Square/ Opposite Your Moon: Emotional and domestic instability is at the heart of this contact.  If both partners are rather detached (strong Air signature/ Uranian) by nature then this may be bearable but for the majority of people this aspect creates extremes between emotional closeness and distance and can be very upsetting in a relationship.  The Uranus partner can be seen as unreliable, unstable, or outright emotionally abusive toward the Moon partner.

☆ Partner’s Uranus Square / Opposite Your Venus: Don’t get too attached. The Uranus partner is usually, whether they intend to or not, not in the relationship for the long haul.  This can be due to their personal emphasis on freedom and non-committed relationships.
